We’re delighted to announce that we will again be joining forces with The Wilson Organisation, organisers of the annual Midlands Family Business Awards. Following our involvement in 2015 Bedrock has boosted its involvement by becoming a category sponsor for this year.

Bedrock will sponsor the Best Small Family Business category, which is open to family firms with an annual turnover of up to £5m, in the 2016 Awards.

Based on our initial and first-hand experience of the Midlands Family Business Awards in 2015, when we sponsored the drinks reception that kick-started celebrations at the Awards’ black tie dinner in Leicester, we decided to extend our role and support in 2016 so has ‘upgraded’ its involvement to category sponsor.

Bedrock’s managing director, Phill Dann, explains:

“Our team was very impressed with the high standard of the Awards – the Awards dinner, the range and standard of entries, but also the behind-the-scenes organisation. The Awards are now very well established on the Midlands’ awards calendar, and last year attracted entries from an impressive range of family run and owned businesses. Bedrock is very taken with the Awards, so much so that the team was keen to extend its involvement and support in 2016. We are delighted to sponsor the Best Small Family Business category, and to join the ‘sponsors family’ this year.

“The Midlands Family Business Awards are a unique, independent, not-for-profit initiative in the region,” he adds, “that recognise the work and achievements of family owned businesses and their leaders. As a category sponsor of the 2016 Awards, we have the opportunity to lend our support, connect with new and established business contacts, and join Wilsons in celebrating the region’s family firms.”

Bedrock specialises in helping accountants’ business clients to navigate the complexities of tax regulations. Phill explains:

“Our highly experienced team focuses on tax issues. We don’t offer accountancy audit or tax return compliance services, our speciality is tax advice, pure and simple.”

Wilsons’ MD Charlotte Perkins adds:

“The 2016 Awards have been given a brilliant start with Bedrock confirming its category sponsorship so early in our planning process. We are also working with other sector-leading organisations and Awards’ supporters and sponsors, old and new, and feel that 2016 is set to be even better than in previous years. We are indebted to all our sponsors, and are thrilled at the warmth and support the Awards continue to experience from the Midlands’ business community.”

The Best Small Family Business category is one of ten planned for the 2016 Awards, which are the region’s only independent, not-for-profit initiative to recognise and celebrate the work and achievements of family firms.

The 2016 Awards will have their official launch at a number of events across the region during May. For updates, follow @FamilyBizAwards on Twitter and visit: www.familybusinessawards.co.uk.

Now in their seventh year, the Awards are organised by their founder Nottingham insurance and financial solutions firm The Wilson Organisation, itself a third generation family business. Since their launch in 2010, the Awards have raised in the region of £20,000 for charities supporting young people and enterprise.

About The Wilson Organisation:

Established in 1914, The Wilson Organisation is a third generation family business, providing insurance and financial advice to businesses and individuals across the Midlands and UK. Wilsons launched the Midlands Family Business Awards as a charitable initiative in 2010 to highlight the successes of the region’s family businesses. Through the Awards Wilsons aims to create an ethical, supportive and friendly community for the Midlands’ family businesses and the Awards’ sponsors and supporters provide the financial support to help make the awards happen.

Wilsons remains strongly committed to the family business sector and to helping its leaders succeed in what can often be quite lonely roles. The firm runs regular Family Business Forums to provide a ‘safe haven’ for family businesses to debate best practice and network with other similar organisations.
