HMRC have updated their Money Laundering Regulations which apply to a number of different business sectors, including financial and credit businesses, accountants and estate agents, as well as our work here at Bedrock.

Every business covered by the regulations must be supervised by a supervisory authority. Your business may already be supervised, for example because you belong to a professional body like the piles of coinsLaw Society. If not, and your business falls into one of 5 business sectors, you’ll likely need to register with HMRC.

HMRC supervises the following 5 business sectors:

  • Money Service Businesses
  • High Value Dealers
  • Trust or Company Service Providers
  • Accountancy Service Providers
  • Estate Agency Businesses

Following registration for the online service, records will be available to view online and changes can also be made through the business’ online account. Businesses already registered with HMRC but who have not yet registered for the online service can still report changes by post using the form MLR RCT1. Fees may also be paid through the online service.

HMRC have updated a number of its online guides to reflect the online registration and renewals service, including:

  • Money laundering supervision: renew your registration;
  • Money laundering supervision: register with HMRC;
  • Money laundering supervision: fees;
  • Money laundering supervision for estate agency businesses;
